FAQ
While MimioStudio is end-of-life, legacy resources remain available on the MimioStudio Documentation & Support page. Below are answers to common questions about what this change means for your classroom.
End-of-life means that the software is no longer in active development. While existing installations will continue to run on supported operating systems, Boxlight will no longer release software updates, security patches, or feature enhancements. Technical support via Boxlight Customer Care is also no longer available for end-of-life products.
No. MimioStudio will not automatically stop working or self-disable on a set date. As long as your computer remains on its current operating system version and you have an active license, your software and connected hardware should continue to function as normal.
If you have an individual license / product key, you can still follow the de-activation procedure in the MimioStudio "Help" menu. While our Customer Care team are unable to assist with technical queries, they will be happy to help with license resets.
Because MimioStudio is no longer updated, future operating system updates (such as major updates to Windows or macOS) may cause compatibility issues, driver breaks, or software crashes. For long-term stability, we recommend transitioning to our supported whiteboarding platform, Lynx Whiteboard.
Boxlight recommends transitioning to Lynx Whiteboard. Lynx is a modern, cross-platform interactive teaching application designed to work seamlessly with existing Boxlight and Mimio interactive hardware.
Your lessons are completely safe. Moving away from MimioStudio does not mean losing your curriculum. Our recommended replacement platform, Lynx Whiteboard, natively supports .ink file imports. You can bring your existing MimioStudio files straight into Lynx to open, present, and edit them without having to rebuild your materials from scratch.
MimioStudio will not work on macOS 27 or later. If your school or district relies on MimioStudio for Mac classrooms, workstations must either remain on macOS 26 or earlier, or switch to Lynx Whiteboard.
