Classroom technology should make teaching easier — not slow it down...
With the latest Chrome update on Boxlight interactive flat panels (IFPs), educators can now enable the Chrome Bookmarks Bar directly on their display. This highly requested feature gives teachers faster access to frequently used websites, classroom tools, digital curriculum platforms, and instructional resources with a single tap.
By bringing a more familiar browsing experience to the classroom display, teachers can spend less time navigating menus and more time focused on instruction.
Why the Bookmarks Bar Matters
During instruction, every second counts. Whether launching a lesson, opening a learning management system, or transitioning between classroom activities, quick access to resources helps lessons stay on track.
With the Chrome Bookmarks Bar enabled, educators can:
Instantly open favorite classroom websites
Access LMS platforms and digital curriculum faster
Reduce interruptions caused by browser navigation
Create a more streamlined, desktop-like browsing experience on the display
This enhancement reflects direct feedback from educators looking for a simpler and more efficient workflow in everyday classroom use.
Before You Begin
To use the Chrome Bookmarks Bar feature, first ensure Chrome is updated to the latest version available on your Boxlight display.
Additionally, Desktop Site must be turned off within Chrome settings for the Bookmarks Bar to appear correctly.
Because Chrome on the display operates in a mobile-based environment, disabling Desktop Site allows the browser to function in its intended mode and properly display bookmark functionality.
How to Enable the Chrome Bookmarks Bar
On a Boxlight Pro Series IFP or Lux display:
Open the Chrome browser
Select the three-dot menu in the top-right corner
Confirm Desktop Site is turned off
Tap Settings
Navigate to Advanced > Appearance
Toggle on Show Bookmarks Bar
Once enabled, bookmarks will appear directly beneath the address bar for quick and easy access during instruction.
Managing Bookmarks
Teachers can organize bookmarks directly within Chrome settings by selecting Bookmarks.
From there, users can:
Move bookmarks into folders
Edit bookmark names
Delete outdated links
Organize instructional resources based on classroom needs
